O<strong>the</strong>r wildlife observations<br />
O<strong>the</strong>r notable wildlife observations were as follows:<br />
Chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) were seen at Slea Head on 30/10/<strong>2012</strong>, <strong>Kerry</strong> Head on<br />
01/11/<strong>2012</strong>, Clogher Head on 02/11/12, Clogher Head and Sybil Point on 03/11/<strong>2012</strong>,<br />
Beennaman on 03/11/12, Inch Dunes on 06/11/12 and Ballybunnion on 07/11/12.<br />
One Irish Hare (Lepus timidus subsp. hibernicus) were seen at Doonties Common at<br />
V496894 on 31/10/12<br />
One Pygmy Shrew (Sorex minuta) was seen at <strong>Kerry</strong> Head on 01/11/<strong>2012</strong>. This was right at<br />
<strong>the</strong> cliff edge where it was burrowed in <strong>the</strong> spongy Thrift turf and our walking over <strong>the</strong> turf<br />
made it abandon its hole looking for new cover.<br />
A washed up log at Ballyferriter Beach was found covered in Goose Barnacles<br />
(order Pedunculata) where <strong>the</strong> smell was almost overpowering. They were all dead but <strong>the</strong>se<br />
can command a high price in sou<strong>the</strong>rn Europe where <strong>the</strong>y are a delicacy.<br />
