Kashgar Geographical name. A famous <strong>and</strong> ancient city <strong>in</strong> south-western<br />

X<strong>in</strong>jiang. It is about 1500 km from the prov<strong>in</strong>cial capital city of<br />

Urumchi <strong>in</strong> the north. It has another name <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese “Kashi”.<br />

Khotan Geographical name. An ancient city <strong>in</strong> south X<strong>in</strong>jiang, which<br />

is located at the southern rim of the Takla-Makan desert. They<br />

produce the well-known Khotan jade, Khotan silk, <strong>and</strong> Khotan<br />

Rugs. It is called “Hetian” <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese.<br />

Kuldja Geographical name. A city <strong>in</strong> north-western X<strong>in</strong>jiang <strong>and</strong><br />

border<strong>in</strong>g with Kazakistan on the west side. It is located <strong>in</strong> the Ili<br />

Valley. It is spelt <strong>in</strong> different ways, such as Gulja/Ghuldja/<br />

Kuldja. In Ch<strong>in</strong>ese called “Y<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g”. It is situated 690 km from<br />

Urumchi on the east side.<br />

Kutja Geographical name. It was also spelt Kucha or Kutcha. It is<br />

located on the northern rim of the Tarim Bas<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> north-eastern<br />

side of Aksu city. Historically, it was a Buddhism centre. In<br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>ese it is called “Kuche”.<br />

Urumchi. It was a capital city of the ancient Uighur<br />

K<strong>in</strong>gdom <strong>and</strong> a famous centre of the Buddhism culture <strong>in</strong> the<br />

History. It called “Tulufan” <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese.<br />

Turk Term used by the missionaries for the <strong>in</strong>habitants of East<br />

Turkestan. But Turk <strong>and</strong> Turkic, these terms actually have a<br />

very wide mean<strong>in</strong>g. It <strong>in</strong>cludes all of the Turkic speak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

peoples such as Turkey Turks, Uzbeks, Azerbaijanis, Kazaks,<br />

Kirghizs, Uighurs, Tatars <strong>and</strong> others. So this terms has a wide <strong>and</strong><br />
