CHAPTER THREE T-<strong>45</strong> <strong>WEAPONS</strong>/<strong>STRIKE</strong><br />

If we extend the flight path up to roll-in altitude, we can reference this line as being on, below, or<br />

above the bombing triangle. Some refer to this planned flight path as being “the wire”.<br />

Definitions<br />

Now let’s define a few terms associated with the bombing principles.<br />

1. Flight Path. This is the path of the aircraft. It is also defined by the Velocity Vector in the<br />

HUD.<br />

2. Flight Path Angle. This is the angle between the horizon and the Flight Path of the aircraft.<br />

3. Dive Angle. This is the angle between the horizon and tangent line across the top of the<br />

airspeed and altitude boxes or waterline “W”.<br />

4. Line of Sight. The line created by looking directly through the HUD to the target.<br />
