Curvilinear to Straight Path Tracking
Figure 8-25 Release Altitude
Preferred Basic Conventional Weapons Delivery (BCWD) method of manual bombing taught by
the Navy and Marine Corps for years.
It is the technique which is still being taught at VMAT-203 (Harrier FRS) for undesignated
deliveries in the CCIP mode.
This technique is not taught in the F/A-18 Hornet FRS or Fleet aircraft.
On Curvilinear to Straight Path Tracking, the aircraft flies a curvilinear profile from roll-out to
checkpoint, then Straight Path from checkpoint to release.
