Lakewood Police Another committee member reached out to Captain Stone in August and again
in October There were a handful ofunsubstantiated reports atthe beginning but nothing since
then according to Elaine Hearn Ahimal Control officer Per Captain Stone it seems there are no
unusual incident reports from the Animal Control offcers and that the pilot program is going along
well
There was one incident that we are aware of at Kauffman Park with a dog off leash A child was
licked by theoff leash dog and her parents were concerned No city services were involved in
this incident
Impact to residents
The feedback the Committee has received has been overwhelmingly positive The patterns
observed are as follows
we have
Although there is a natural reduction in the geese presence during the long hot summers the dog
presence has also helped keep them at bay in Lakewood Park
PerCaptain Stone and our own visual observations utilization of Lakewood Park has increased
which is a positive for our city and for the health and safety of our residents
Kauffman park utilization A dog adoption event was held in Kauffman Park in August bringing
families from Lakewood and surrounding communities to the park
The fake a bag leave abag program is working welt and the stations remain accessible and
reuse recycle
filled The effort is in line with keeping Lakewoodgreen
All in all this has been a very positive experience and a good example of a citizens group and the city
working well together to bring about positive change for Lakewood
