1986-08-01 - 1987-01-31 Associate Professor in building design at the Danish Engineering Academy.<br />
1987-02-01 - 1992-12-31 Associate Professor in building design and CAD at the Institute of Building<br />
Design of the Technical University of Denmark.<br />
Facilities <strong>for</strong> CAD research and teaching were established, and 2 courses in CAD were offered.<br />
Research and teaching on the subjects of computer aided building- and structural design, EDP system<br />
design and conceptual modelling. Stability design of multi-storey buildings. Spalling of fire exposed<br />
high strength concrete.<br />
A continuous teaching and renewal of the structural fire safety course, and from 1990 a MSc/PhD.<br />
course on fire safety design of concrete structures at London City University is given once a year.<br />
1993-01-01 - 1995-12-31 Head of Department <strong>for</strong> the Institute of Building Design DTU.<br />
Research on concrete structures exposed to fire and teaching building design, CAD, stability and<br />
structural fire safety design.<br />
Own design methods were included in the fire chapter of the CEN code <strong>for</strong> concrete structures.<br />
1996-01-01 - Head of Department of Buildings and Energy DTU with approx. 60 employees.<br />
Research and teaching in Denmark and UK and code work <strong>for</strong> CEN, fire safety chapters of the Danish<br />
code <strong>for</strong> concrete structures DS411 and the Danish action code DS410 and DS409.<br />
Consultant <strong>for</strong> the Danish Ministry of Housing <strong>for</strong> the introduction of per<strong>for</strong>mance based fire safety<br />
design in Denmark.<br />
1999-02-01 a full Master education on Fire Safety is established with 15 internet based courses as an<br />
Open University activity, where the subject of fire dynamics is supported by a visiting professorship of<br />
James Quintiere from University of Maryland sponsored by the Larsen and Nielsen Foundation<br />
initiating a continuous corporation with the University of Maryland and NIST.<br />
As a head of department value based management was introduced 1999-01-01, and at 2000-07-01 the<br />
department was increased to 90 employees by adopting research groups on production and<br />
management, IT and planning.<br />
2001-01-01 - Establishes the department BYG.DTU with 180 employees, and becomes a deputy head<br />
<strong>for</strong> this department leaving more time <strong>for</strong> research and teaching.<br />
Is still teaching structural fire safety design in Denmark and UK.<br />
A full set of design methods <strong>for</strong> concrete structures <strong>for</strong> the load case of fire is reported in refereed<br />
papers. A new test method <strong>for</strong> explosive spalling of fire exposed concrete is developed.<br />
A new M.Sc. study in Civil Engineering is established revising the teaching of the department.<br />
