NOTES<br />

In the below described procedures, the differential unit components will be identified by the<br />

reference numbers used in Fig. 1<br />

• For differential unit specifications see ( D 1.01).<br />

• In case of differential unit malfuncions or breakins it is necessary to remove the <strong>gear</strong><strong>box</strong> unit<br />

block<br />

( D 2.01).<br />

IMPORTANT<br />

Avoid opening the differential housing since the internal components are not supplied as spare<br />

parts.<br />

Ball bearing on the left cover<br />

• Remove the differential left-hand cover (2), the flange shaft (1) and the external grommet (5) (<br />

D 4.01).<br />

• Adequately support the cover by positioning a suitably sized bushing (A) under it. Extract the<br />

outer race of the tapered roller bearing (8), the spacer (7) and the ball bearing by positioning the<br />

tool AV 3252's punch (b) on the ball bearing's outer ring (6).<br />

IMPORTANT<br />

The ball bearing removed in this procedure must always be replaced.
