Dielectric Elastomers under the heel<br />

• Electrostatic generator with silicone rubber or flex<br />

acrylic elastomer between the plates<br />

– Placed under heel<br />

– 2-4 mm of squeeze gives 50-100% area strain<br />

– 4 kV across them!<br />

– Saw 0.8 Watt per shoe (2 Hz pace, 3 mm deflection)<br />

– Estimate that 1 Watt is possible with more deflection<br />
