A Beetrain GwG Cross w/ Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei Twist!
The Not-So-Outrageous Prelude
By gonzotheanime
Margaret, Madlax, Limelda, and Elenore have decided to scout the globe for the best killers
for their new mercenary business simply called “The Burton Agency” after the rich teen
settled things out in Gazth-Sonika and all is almost back to normal. They were able to find
some skills in two pairs of women: one was the infamous assassin duo rooted in France called
Noir (Real names: Mireille Bouquet and Kirika Yuumura), and another was a ragtag bounty
hunter pair named Nadie and Ellis.
Mireille was the orphaned descendant of a rich aristocratic family. Kirika was a recovering
amnesic like Margaret, whose killing style isn't limited to her handgun. Nadie is quick on her
feet and draw, and Ellis is a witch who can control certain elements and heal physical injuries.
Strangely, they were instantly hired on the spot.
The first few months has it's squabbles and bouts of differences, but it wasn't long until they
got the hang of each other. It also took a few decent jobs for them to work like clockwork.
They pretty much got along...and then there was that strange incident in a remote town in
the Japanese countryside...

Cookies For Mireille
The group was thus: the original mercenary Madlax, Margaret Burton, Noir, and Nadie.
Limelda was on personal leave, and Ellis was to stay out of anything involving gunfire, to
avoid trauma according to Nadie. Their recent job was in the remote Japanese countryside (in
Kirika's country of origin) in the small village of Hinamizawa. The job was to take out a small
splinter group out to cause chaos in the village. To the best of their efforts, nothing turned
up.
Noon came one day when the Noir girls searched a large garbage dump, where the locals
fought against the government who proposed a dam and flood the town for the dam. Such a
dirty place was bound to have some sort of secret meeting place, but the only thing close
was a local village girl's private clubhouse in a Volkswagen Bus, crammed with trash and
personal belongings.
“It's been a long day,” Kirika suggested. “How's lunch sound?”
“I think we can take one break before we regroup with the others.” the blonde replied.
In a small knapsack, Kirika pulled out a sandwich bag of what appears to be delicious cookies
and a canteen with cups. A cookie was offered and Mireille decided to taste it.
“Is it good?” the amnesic Noir asked.
The older Noir displayed one serious face and remarked “I would kill without hesitation to get
your well-made cookies.”
“That won't be necessary,” spoke Kirika, a tad uneasy. “Just ask and I'll make more.”
“That's a lot easier.”

At another part of the village was the rest of the girls with their clients, a little blue-haired girl
and an grandpa-ish man, near a large shrine.
“Hello” said the man. “My name is Kimyoshi and this is the girl who insisted on your services,
Furude Rika.”
“It's nice to meet you,” replied Margaret. “We're from the agency and I'm it's boss, Margaret.”
“Aren't you a bit-”
“Young?” interrupted Rika. “I'm sorry, but you and I said the same about me.”
“Then, I guess I must get with the present then.”
“You the village leader?” asked Nadie to the old man.
“You betcha. And Rika's the local shrine keeper and head of one of the Three Influential
Houses of Hinamizawa.”
“This little girl?!”
“My parents were killed when I was very young.” Rika then look at the ground, sad.
“I feel your pain,” Margaret assured. “Mine were killed, too.”
“And mine!” butted Nadie.
“I didn't have any parents, really,” Madlax whispered to herself.
“It's alright. I can handle these things all by myself.” The little girl then smiled and beamed
“Nipaa!”
A crash was heard from the shrine. All went inside, with Rika's precaution to remove their
shoes as Japanese tradition dictates. A small jade jar with weird legs had a broken leg and
the outline where a box used to be was showing.
“I don't see anything,” reported Nadie.
“I got nothing,” Madlax said after tuning into her surroundings.
“Oh, no,” lamented Rika. “That furnace was a seal to a powerful pair of charms. And the
charms are missing!”
Kirika was sipping on the tea from the thermos when she notice something sparkle falling
from the sky. Her mouth was open and the object went straight in, down her throat.
She choked, and Mireille opted for the Heimlich maneuver. But strangely, Kirika stopped
feeling the stone in the throat. “I think it's gone, whatever it is.”
“But you still need to get it checked out,” Mireille sternly said.
“Alright. I'll head over to that clinic we saw on the way here.”
With Kirika gone as promised, Mireille wondered around looking for any clues to that incident.
She then found a strange box with broken pieces of paper...

Falling In Love (Is Over My Head)
The afternoon came, as the gang was treated to a stay at the Furude house. Rika wanted
some extra company.
But as everyone gathered, Kirika was nowhere to be found. And then Mireille presented the
strange box.
“This can't be good,” Rika said in a sad tone. “There was two charms in this box.” She then
turned to Mireille. “Where are they?”
“I dunno what you're talking about. I just found the box that way.”
“Where?”
“That large landfill at the dam site. Kirika and I was there, but I had to let Kirika go to a clinic
'cause she seemed to swallowed something. We wasn't sure what it was.”
“Check the clinic. Maybe they have Kirika for observation,” suggested Nadie. “Who knows,
you might've killed her without notice.”
“Like I'd let her die that easily!” Mireille rebutted as she ran out.
The older mercenary and bounty hunter followed soon out the door.
“That was mean of her,” spoke Rika with a stern, yet still cute tone.
Margaret had to correct her. “Actually, Mireille made a promise to Kirika at one point that she
would kill her when the time comes. They made it a long time ago and she holds that
promise even today.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”

Kirika was found, alright. But instead of a clinic, it was in the middle of the village, clung
tightly to a muscular man holding a camera.
“Hi, guys!” she greeted cheerfully as she notices the three. “This is a very interesting guy I
found at the clinic.”
“I'm Tomitake,” the man introduced.
“Yea, and she's ours,” answered Madlax.
“Good. She was clinging to me since we left the clinic. I dunno if she loves me or if she's sick
or something.”
“I'm not sick!” retorted Kirika. “I like you! And I heard from the doctor you like cosplay, so I
can do that!”
“Do you even know what cosplay is?” remarked Nadie.
“Yep!” she replied, then turned to Tomitake and said, “I bet you'd like a small nurse outfit
that's barely clinging to me, won't you?”
The man stuttered an unintelligible sentence. Madlax and Nadie were speechless.
“HEY!” Mireille then shouted. “That was for me!”
All stood silent. Mireille and her big mouth managed to make an awkward situation even
worse.
“What was that?” the blonde assassin scrambled. “That came out of nowhere. I'm sure glad I
didn't say that, cause that would be totally wrong and so bad.” She then grabbed Kirika and
attempted to pry her off the man and lead her to the Furude residence. “C'mon, we can't let
Rika wait any longer!”
“Are you trying to take us apart?” Kirika spoke in a low, angered tone, staring to the ground.
All stopped. “Did it ever occur to you that I need a man in my life, and one who will still
breathe after I meet him?”
“What about that Milosh guy you told us about once?” asked Nadie.
“He died in a drive-by because of me!”
“Ouch.”
“But this will be different! I will ensure that this man will not die! I'll kill thousands with my
own bare hands just to keep him alive!”
“Now you're spewing nonsense!” Mireille said as she takes a step to Kirika.
The younger Noir pulled out her small handgun. “Don't get any closer, if you wish to live!” But
in the mist of her blind, mad love, she didn't expect Madlax to strike a harsh pistol whip to
the back of her head, without a single warning.
The three carted the limp Kirika off to Rika's place. The shrine girl then closed her eyes and
felt around Kirika's chest. “It's what I fear. She swallowed one of the charms.”
“Charms?” asked Mireille.
“Well, since you're all here, I can explain. My grandfather who made this temple also sealed
these charms because of their power. What all did she do?”

“She was clinging to this guy and threatened to kill anyone who came close. Except Madlax.”
“That's because these were originally love charms. A couple would hold them and they would
fall in love instantly. But they're so powerful, disaster might befall on this village at dawn.”
“Oh, nice,” remarked Nadie. “Finish our job and wipe out the entire damn village off the map.
Some nice way to start the day!”
“So all we do is find the other charm?” Madlax inquired. “Maybe that Tomitake guy still has
it!”
Evening began. A mad dash to the clinic was all it took to find Tomitake, but...
“I lost that rock or charm or whatever.”
It took 5 minutes for a teen, a mercenary, and an assassin to pry one outraged Nadie off one
bloody Tomitake. “I don't wanna wake up just to go back to sleep forever!”
The news gets worse. On Madlax's cell, a call from Rika was connected to find Kirika missing
from the Estate.
“So one charm is attracted to another?” Mireille asked after asking Madlax for her to speak to
Rika.
“Yes. But this is bad. Kirika has absorbed the charm's power and is now attracted to whoever
holds the other charm. And then she would fall madly in love with that person and become
overly obsessed and powerful.”
“And we have to get them to your shrine before dawn. Can you take the one Kirika absorbed
out?”
“I have a ritual just for that. It'll be ready for you, I promise!”

Both hanged up. “Alright, boss lady. What now?”
Margaret thought for a few minutes. “I say we split up. We're still on assignment to take out
that rouge splinter group, but we are also to find Kirika and the other charm. We'll split up
into the those basic compass directions.”
“Cardinal directions?” asked Mireille.
“Yea, those. I'll take the south side, Madlax's to the north, Nadie's west, and Mireille will take
the east. We'll meet at Rika's in one hour.”
True Blue Noir Love
Mireille looked about with as much as the sunlight would allow. Soon, night falls quickly and
she brought out a small flashlight. A few minutes later produced a strange, bird-like stone.
She takes the stone, hoping it's the charm, and places in her pocket. She was then taken offguard
by a dark figure. She wasn't sure, since a cloth full of ammonia knocked her out.
The remaining three made it to the Furude Estate after their hour was up. It was pitch black.
“I got nothing, again!” pouted the bounty hunter. “Augh! I'm itching to shoot a bad guy!!”
“Same here,” reported Margaret. “And I got my gun permit for just this occasion.”
“And no sign of Kirika,” added Madlax. “But I didn't see Mireille anywhere.”
Rika's phone then rang. She turned a small contraption's switch on before the receiver was
picked up.
“Hello.”
On the speaker, it was a distorted voice. “Nice. You decided to send someone to stop us. But
you made a mistake and now we're taking out the village at midnight! Sleep tight, Rika
Furude. Tell your friends I said hi.”
The voice hung up.
“I hope it's long enough for the police to trace the call. They did that three times now, so the
police had my phone line tapped to trace the call.”
“But we have to get a hold of both the group and Kirika, or it's gonna be over sooner or later
for us,” Nadie spoke, worried.
“You forgot Mireille.”
“Her missing won't end our lives. So let's get to the station pronto!”
Mireille awakes to a large warehouse surrounded by many armed men, tied to a chair. “Kinda
cliché, isn't is?”
“Well, it's effective in making sure you're not gonna get a hold of your other friends,” spoke a
man with a beret. The leader from the way it looked.
“I'm just curious, why take out this nice village?”
“Just to show the government what we can do for their goals. They needed that dam for

more power, but these pansies won't move, so we'll wipe this place off and let the dam take
place!”
“So the government hired you?”
“No. This is our own doing.”
“Then you're doing a big crime if this goes on.”
“America committed a big crime and that nation's the leader of the free world!”
“From what I hear, it's because they know what's morally right, right?”
“Yes.”
“So killing an entire village for one dam for the government is gonna make you rich or
famous?”
“Yes!”
“I wish I can agree, but you do know that project was way back in the past and they've
pretty much forgot about it by now, right?”
The leader got furious. “Are you mocking us?”
“Well, personally I don't care about this, since this is all just so we can make a quick buck.
But you might be sentenced to death before anyone can consider you some hero. And
remember, I have no position. I'm only here for the money I get by ridding of you guys.”
“Trust me, you won't live to see your next pay.”
“Right...” She then thought to herself, “In more ways than this.” She still has the knowledge
that if Kirika isn't found and fixed, the men would wish for the chair than a crazed schoolgirl.

At the police station, there wasn't any luck. The call was too short before it was fully traced.
But the general location was in the east part of town, where Mireille was sent to. So the girls
went to searched for any clues or hints. Their hint finally came from an explosion not too far.
“Mireille?! Is that you?!” shouted a familiar voice from the remains of the warehouse's garage
door.
“Kirika?!” Mireille shouted. “What was that?”
“A grenade from one of the guards. Or two.”
“Fire at the voice!” yelled the leader.
Semi-autos screeched the night with bullets and mayhem. After 3 minutes of firing, all
stopped to listen. Silent, and no movement within the smoke.
Something silver came straight out of the smoke and pierced the eye of one of the men. As
Mireille then caught a glimpse of the object, it turned out to be a dessert fork. Another
grenade was also tossed out of the smoke. One man shot it off before it landed, but the bast
was blinding.
The smoke was also hindering eyesight, but Mireille was able to make out some of the
movement and people in it. Kirika's shadow was recognized. A mad, vengeful Kirika.
“How dare you take her away from me!” the amnesic shouted, killing off men like flies. “I
want her back and you won't stop me from getting back my Mireille!”
“I guess I did find that other charm,” she then though.
The leader made his way back to Mireille and attempted to find anything to kill her. He ran
out of bullets, so he frantically search her pockets for something to choke her with.
“Hey!” she shouted when his hand came too close to the groin. “I'd like to keep my virginity,
thank you!”
He then located the charm and force-feed it to her. But she accidentally swallowed it before
he even noticed. He then ran off back into the smoke.
As Mireille watch on, she noticed every single killing method Kirika performed before, and
more with extra brutality. One kill with the ear piece of a guy's shades. Another with the strap
of a semi-auto. Another with an overhead light and the wire it was attached to, and one more
with a crowbar founded near a bunch of boarded boxes. Soon, Kirika was covered in blood,
none of her own, and most men completely dead.
After finding a clear path to Mireille, Kirika rushed to the blonde and started to kiss her. “I
didn't mean to threaten you earlier. I was just confused.”
“You missed one.”
She grabbed Mireille's flashlight, perched on a table nearby, and delivered a hit so hard, blood
splattered onto Mireille.
“Kirika, that's my favorite skirt! And it's dry-clean only!”

Kirika didn't bother to listen. She went back to where she was: kissing and now making out
with Mireille, still tied up.
“The ropes?” asked the blonde.
“I want it like this.” She went for the lips and then down the neck, which sent shivers through
Mireille's body.
The moment was killed when the remaining women entered the warehouse, dazed and
confused about the countless bodies and Kirika on Mireille. “Just so you know,” stated the
blonde, “this is not what it looks like.”
“I think it does,” replied Madlax.
All went back and reported to Rika. “Sad part about the other charm is, the leader feed it to
me, thinking I might choke.”
“It's alright. I can perform the ritual with both of you.”
So it's off to the shrine. Midnight struck, so they had to make it quick. But during the ritual,
Mireille had a question for Kirika. “Was all that you're doing or the charm?”
“I dunno. It was hard to tell. But I think I'm in control for now. And we might as well do it
now while the chance is still good.”
“So do you...love me?”
Kirika smiled. “I'm not sure if it's really me or the charm talking but yes. Yes, I do.”
“I'll ask later, when that chance is good.”
“Thanks, Mireille.”

The Wrap-Up
Now that the splinter groups is slaughtered single-handedly by Kirika, the village was saved.
The reward was paid in full, and the charms were extracted painlessly and sealed. The group
returned to Margaret's home for their de-briefing with the others.
After a few weeks, Mireille and Kirika asked for a week off. They went to a hotel with their
earnings off the job on Hawaii. Nothing was spoken of that vacation, but they came with
strange hickies, kiss and bite-marks, and mile-wide smiles.
