year for leading peats and turfs ; 80 merks in full payment<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> herezelds, <strong>the</strong> seising ox, and double feuduty<br />

on <strong>the</strong> entry <strong>of</strong> heirs or assignees ;<br />

attendance at<br />

three capital pleas <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said barony and at o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

pleas <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same as <strong>of</strong>ten as <strong>the</strong>y—<strong>the</strong> vassal and his<br />

representatives—should be sunnnoned ;<br />

if <strong>the</strong>y<br />

should alienate <strong>the</strong> lands without reversion, without<br />

<strong>the</strong> consent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> superior, or without liaving <strong>of</strong>fered<br />

<strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> superior for a sum named, <strong>the</strong> charter was<br />

to be <strong>of</strong> no effect. In addition <strong>the</strong> lands were to be<br />

asstricted to <strong>the</strong> grain mills <strong>of</strong> Easter Kinloeh or<br />

Easter Essendy at <strong>the</strong> option <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> superior/'<br />

At <strong>the</strong> same time <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong><br />

Wester Kinloch and <strong>the</strong> fishings in <strong>the</strong> three lochs <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> barony were disposed <strong>of</strong> both in property and<br />

superiority to Patrick Blair <strong>of</strong> Ardblair, <strong>the</strong>re being<br />

reserved to Mr John <strong>Lindsay</strong> and Jean Ramsay, his<br />

spouse, and <strong>the</strong>ir heir.s, liberty to dig turfs in <strong>the</strong><br />

moors and bogs <strong>of</strong> Ardblair. t<br />

Agreeably to <strong>the</strong>ir marriage contract those that<br />

remained <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kinloch lands were settled in property<br />

on <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> Mr John by his wife Jean liamsay,<br />

while <strong>the</strong> superiority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m passed to <strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> his<br />

first marriage, who transmitted it to his heirs, <strong>the</strong><br />
