One notice respecting him has an interest of its own
apart from its connection with liim. An Act of Par-
liament had been passed against tlje liarbouring of
Gipsies; and in IGiiO tlie King's Advocate brought a
complaint against a number of persons for breach of the
Act. Part of the complaint was that in the year 1615
a number of " Egiptians wer ressett in the toun of
Kinloche and Balcairne diverse dayis and nightis
togidder be Mr. Johnne Lindsay of Dowhill ; and thir
lymraaris haveing stollin some gear fra David liuthven
in Auchtegowne, the same gear wes gottin againe
upoun the said Mr. Johnne's ground."*

Christian Schaw, had issue
