The <strong>Lindsay</strong>s and Early Iiion-Making in<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong>. Mr George Turner, Glasgow, is making<br />

enquiry into <strong>the</strong> history <strong>of</strong> iron-making in <strong>Scotland</strong>,<br />

and would be glad <strong>of</strong> information bearing on <strong>the</strong> con-<br />

nection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lindsay</strong>s with this industry. The locat-<br />

ing on estates formerly possessed by <strong>Lindsay</strong>s <strong>of</strong><br />

evidence <strong>of</strong> such o])erations, as, for instance, <strong>the</strong><br />

presence <strong>of</strong> iron slag, would be <strong>of</strong> value ; and references<br />

to accessible printed matter, or extracts from un-<br />

published MSS. would also be very acceptable, and<br />

might be sent to <strong>the</strong> Editor, 18 Burnbank Terrace,<br />
