<strong>the</strong> firm <strong>of</strong> W. L. Boase & Co., and managing director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Boase Spinning Company, Limited. He wa.s well known for<br />

his services to <strong>the</strong> Conservative Party, and on several occasions<br />

was Parliamentary Candidate for East Perthshire. He is<br />

survived by a widow and family.<br />

Mr James C. <strong>Lindsay</strong>, Hamilton, also a life member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong>, died 9th August 1910. Mr Lind.say took a warm<br />

interest in <strong>the</strong> affairs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong> and was well known, especially<br />

to <strong>the</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Western Section. He is survived by a<br />

widow and family.<br />

Mr Herbert J. G. <strong>Lindsay</strong> died 13th August 1910. For<br />

many years he acted as local secretary in Cla.sgow fur <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong>. His bright and genial disposition, and his business<br />

capacity and energy, made his services <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> greatest value<br />

until, to <strong>the</strong> great regret <strong>of</strong> his associates, he was compelled to<br />

retire on account <strong>of</strong> failing health. To his fa<strong>the</strong>r, and to his<br />

widow and little daughter, <strong>the</strong> syn»pathy <strong>of</strong> his and <strong>the</strong>ir friends<br />

goes out in <strong>the</strong> special sadness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir bereavement.<br />

Mr John <strong>Lindsay</strong> died 5th January 1911, at <strong>the</strong> house <strong>of</strong><br />

his fa<strong>the</strong>r, Mr John <strong>Lindsay</strong>, J.P., Cotiylea, Westbourne Gardens,<br />

Glasgow. Mr <strong>Lindsay</strong> was an enthusiastic Volunteer. He had<br />

served ten years in <strong>the</strong> Queen's Own Glasgow Yeomanry, and<br />

at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> his death held <strong>the</strong> rank <strong>of</strong> sergeant in <strong>the</strong><br />

Territorial Forces. Recently he had undergone a course <strong>of</strong><br />

special instruction at Leith Fort, and qualified first <strong>of</strong> his year<br />

as instructor in <strong>the</strong> handling <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Maxim Gun. He was a<br />

young man <strong>of</strong> great promise, and his death is a loss to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong>, which <strong>of</strong>fers its respectful sympathy to his fa<strong>the</strong>r and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r members <strong>of</strong> his family.
