At 3.30 p.m. tlie company returned to Edzell,<br />

where dinner was served in <strong>the</strong> Inglis iMcmorial Hall.<br />

Mr R A. <strong>Lindsay</strong>, S.S.C, presided in tlic alxsence <strong>of</strong><br />

Lord Balcarres, who had to leave early.<br />

The toast <strong>of</strong> " The King " was enthusiastically<br />

pledged, and in submitting " The Queen, Queen<br />

Alexandra, and <strong>the</strong> Prince <strong>of</strong> Wales," <strong>the</strong> Chairman<br />

said <strong>the</strong>y were all delighted to have ano<strong>the</strong>r Queen<br />

named Mary. (Applause.) They were fur<strong>the</strong>r de-<br />

lighted to have Her Majesty, Queen Alexandra, and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Koyal Family in <strong>Scotland</strong> at <strong>the</strong><br />

present time. (Applause.)<br />

The Rev. Dr Coats proposed " vSuccess to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Clan</strong><br />

<strong>Lindsay</strong> <strong>Society</strong>," remarking tliat though not bearing<br />

<strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lindsay</strong>, he was proud to say he had<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir blood in his veins, his great-great-great-grand-<br />

mo<strong>the</strong>r being Margaret <strong>Lindsay</strong> oi' Dunrud. The<br />

<strong>Lindsay</strong>s had been a lawless race, but <strong>the</strong> age was<br />

a lawless one, and it carried no shame to <strong>the</strong>m.<br />

They had been a strenuous race, who had held <strong>the</strong>ir
