^jHE Annual Ga<strong>the</strong>ring was this year held at<br />

— * Kight Hon. <strong>the</strong> Earl <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lindsay</strong>, on Saturday,<br />

*»^l^ Kilconquhar House, Elie, <strong>the</strong> residence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

14th September. The Headquarters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong><br />

for <strong>the</strong> time was <strong>the</strong> Grand Hotel, St Andrews, where<br />

some members arrived as early as <strong>the</strong> Thursday. On<br />

<strong>the</strong> Friday morning <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lindsay</strong>s assembled visited a<br />

few <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> many places <strong>of</strong> interest about St Andrews.<br />

After luncheon, a party to <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> about 50<br />

drove via Ceres (where <strong>the</strong> tomb <strong>of</strong> John, Earl <strong>of</strong><br />

Crawford, was visited), to Crauford Priory, <strong>the</strong> resi-<br />

dence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Hon. Thomas and Lady Gertrude<br />

Cochrane. On arrival at tlie Priory, we were received<br />

by Mr Thomas Cochrane, junr., and his sisters, in <strong>the</strong><br />

unavoidable absence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>r and mo<strong>the</strong>r, and<br />

after being shown round <strong>the</strong> beautiful house, with its<br />

fine old furniture, were entertained to tea. The kindness<br />

shown <strong>the</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong> was much<br />

appreciated by all present, and before leaving, Mr<br />

Cochrane and his sisters were heartily thanked for<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir cordial reception <strong>of</strong> us. The party returned to<br />

St Andrews by Cupar, and <strong>the</strong> day being fine, <strong>the</strong><br />

drive was much enjoyed. After dinner, a musical and<br />

dance programme was gone through in <strong>the</strong> drawing-
