Then, or at some such early time, <strong>the</strong> Kirk <strong>of</strong> Kilin'ide<br />

was assigned as his prebend to <strong>the</strong> Chanter <strong>of</strong> (Glasgow<br />

Ca<strong>the</strong>dral.<br />

Isabella de Valoins, daughter and heiress <strong>of</strong> Iloger,<br />

marrying David Curnin, carried <strong>the</strong> barony and castle<br />

to her husband ; and this branch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cumins<br />

Yet <strong>the</strong> memory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> De Valoins family lingers in<br />

suggested, } that <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> R-oger and his bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Philip, are enshrined in <strong>the</strong> local place-names, liogerton<br />

and Philipshill.<br />

The Kilbride lands having fallen to <strong>the</strong> Crown by<br />

forfeiture <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cumins, were granted by Kingllobert<br />

Bruce to his daughter, Marjorie, as part <strong>of</strong> her dowry,<br />

when she married Walter <strong>the</strong> Steward. From Ilobert,<br />

<strong>the</strong> son <strong>of</strong> Walter and Marjorie, before he came to <strong>the</strong><br />

throne as King Robert II., John <strong>Lindsay</strong> <strong>of</strong> Dunrod<br />

received a portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lordship <strong>of</strong> Kilbride. This<br />

portion consisted <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mains, or lands immediately<br />

around <strong>the</strong> manor place, with no doubt <strong>the</strong> uld castle<br />

<strong>of</strong> De Valoins and <strong>the</strong> Cumins if it still existed ; as<br />

well as <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> Rogerton, Thornton, Bogton, Carn-<br />
