Progressing Cavity
Pump (PCP) Products
AOT Drive Rods®
AOT offers the latest technology
in special application sucker rods
designed for alternate methods in
artificial lift. AOT Drive Rods® are
specifically designed to meet the
torque requirements of today’s
progressing cavity pump systems.
AOT Drive Rod® pins are modified
from the standard API design
which results in improved pressure
loss across the couplings, when
compared with conventional sucker
rods, and the increased pin length
greatly increases the torsional
capacity of the AOT Drive Rod®
connection. Laboratory tests have
shown that AOT Drive Rods®, with
modified pin connections and
high strength couplings, provide a
minimum 50% increase in torque
over conventional API sucker rod
thread connections. AOT Drive Rods®
have improved fatigue life and
wear rates over conventional sucker
rods due to less bending stress
concentrated near the connections.
Because AOT Drive Rods ® are
specifically designed for torsional
strength, Norris recommends their
use in all PCP applications.
Coiled Rod Products
Pro-Rod
Coiled Rods
Pro-Rod coiled rods are one-piece,
continuous rod strings that require
no couplings in the wellbore.
Traditionally used in deviated wells,
coiled rod has more uniform contact
through and around the bends in
tubing. This enhances rod/tubing
life, which, in turn, increases pump
life and reduced wear on drives.
Additional benefits of coiled rods
include increased production,
reduced maintenance costs and
mechanical tubing wear, increased
rod life, reduced paraffin build-up
and with the patented X-celerator
injector system – reduced service
and installation costs/less manpower
to run the coiled rod strings.
Pro-Rod products are backed by a
rigorous Quality Assurance Program
to ensure the highest quality
product to meet today’s most
demanding customer challenges.
Dedicated to Reducing Lift Costs
Pro-Rod Coiled Rod Solutions, a division of C-Tech Oilwell
Technologies, Inc., is one of only three coiled rod manufacturers in
the world. Developed in the 1960s, coiled rod technology represents
innovation at its finest. Traditionally used in problematic wells mainly
due to well-bore deviation, in which pumping with conventional
sucker rod was not an option, coiled rod has emerged as the sucker
rod of choice for many pumping applications. Pro-Rod coiled rod is
a one-piece, continuous rod string that effectively connects the
bottom-hole pump to the prime mover at surface.
Manufactured with similar chemical properties and mechanical
strengths as the Norris conventional product line, Pro-Rod is a
quench and tempered product that maintains the same high level of
quality that all Norris products have come to be known for. Pro-Rod
coiled rod eliminates most couplings from the well-bore, which
account for over 75% of all rod failures. Coiled sucker rod has more
uniform contact with the production tubing in deviated or nonvertical
well-bores.This extends rod/tubing life, which, in turn,
reduces costly well interventions, and maximizes production. Coiled
rod has also become extremely popular in heavy oil and progressive
cavity pumping installations. It has accomplished this by it’s ability to
reduce pressure/flow losses, reduce abrasion from solids and its
slim-hole design allows for coiled tubing clean-outs without removal
of the rod string.
