Purpose The purpose of this proven solution <strong>for</strong> deduplication is to define a working<br />
infrastructure <strong>for</strong> an <strong>Oracle</strong> RAC environment with an <strong>Oracle</strong> 1 TB <strong>OLTP</strong> database<br />
on CLARiiON storage infrastructure using a Data Domain appliance to:<br />
• Demonstrate the dramatic reduction in the amount of disk storage needed to<br />
retain <strong>and</strong> protect enterprise data enabled <strong>by</strong> Data Domain<br />
• Determine the reduction of backup impact <strong>by</strong> offloading the backup to a<br />
proxy mount host enabled <strong>by</strong> SnapView clones <strong>and</strong> NetWorker<br />
• Validate the improvement in <strong>Recovery</strong> Time Objective (RTO) when the<br />
backup schedule utilizes full backups only<br />
This document provides a specification <strong>for</strong> the customer environment (storage<br />
configurations, design, sizing, software <strong>and</strong> hardware, <strong>and</strong> so on) that constitutes an<br />
enterprise <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>11g</strong> RAC backup <strong>and</strong> recovery solution in an <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>OLTP</strong><br />
environment, deployed on the <strong>EMC</strong> CLARiiON CX4-960.<br />
In addition, this use case provides in<strong>for</strong>mation on:<br />
• Building an enterprise <strong>Oracle</strong> <strong>11g</strong> RAC environment on an <strong>EMC</strong> CLARiiON<br />
