Introduction Data Domain DD880 integrates easily into existing data centers and can be
configured for leading backup and archiving applications using NFS, CIFS, OST, or
VTL protocols. This solution is deployed using NFS.

Create multiple
shares
The Data Domain appliance was configured with two 10 GbE optical cards for
connection to the backup network.
The following image shows the Data Domain Enterprise Manager.
When integrating a Data Domain appliance for use in an environment that also had
NetWorker and RMAN deployed, it is best practice to create multiple shares on the
appliance. You can then access these shares as either NFS or CIFS shares on the
NetWorker storage nodes.
Creating the shares involves mounting the appliance “/backup” directory to a server
and creating the required directories. The number of directories required is
determined by the total number of NetWorker storage nodes that will access the
restorer and the total number of streams required by each server. Each NetWorker
stream requires an individual device.
