Wisconsin’s Public Art
Wisconsin has a wealth of art that truly belongs
to the people. Statues and monuments
have long decorated our parks and government
buildings. Since 1980, over 1,000 separate
pieces of public art have been added
and installed where it’s accessible to everyone.
Some are hidden in plain view, so much
a piece of daily life that you may not recognize
it.
Whether it’s a glass sculpture by former
UW Alum Dale Chihuly, the mathematically
inspired Fibonacci Chimes located in the Institute
for Discovery, or a 1931 bubbler designed
by Vilas Zoo director Fred
Winkelmann, it’s waiting for discovery.
Let it tickle your imagination, capture you
in its creative web and engage all your
senses. Wisconsin’s art is begging you to
come and explore. Finding this fun is easy!
