In the year from the Lord's <strong>in</strong>carnation 756, k<strong>in</strong>g Edbert,<br />

<strong>in</strong> the eighteenth year of his reign, and Angus, k<strong>in</strong>g of the P icts,<br />

led an army to the town of Dumbarton.<br />

And hence the Britons accepted terms t<strong>here</strong>, on the first<br />

day of the month of August.<br />

But on the tenth day of the same month perished almost<br />

the whole army which he led from Ovania 2 to Newburgh, that<br />

is, to the New City.<br />

was fought near Eildon, 6 7 on the eighth before the Ides of<br />

August ; and <strong>in</strong> it Osw<strong>in</strong> fell, after three days, on the first day<br />
