youth met them with his under-k<strong>in</strong>g Beornheth, and with<br />

his few knights so destroyed the <strong>in</strong>numerable army of the<br />

Picts that the pla<strong>in</strong>s strewn with corpses lost their flatness,<br />

and the rivers were checked, be<strong>in</strong>g blocked <strong>in</strong> their course.<br />
