Dur<strong>in</strong>g the same time Geoffrey de Langley, a knight who<br />

had oppressed beyond measure those whom he had been able<br />

to entangle <strong>in</strong> any suits, was removed from the guardianship<br />

of the forests, and sent to <strong>Scotland</strong> as counsellor of the queen<br />

of <strong>Scotland</strong>, daughter of the lord k<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Roger Bigod, earl marshal, receives aga<strong>in</strong> his wife.<br />

About the same time earl Roger Bigod, marshal of England,<br />

hav<strong>in</strong>g been <strong>in</strong>structed and assured of the truth by the<br />

judgment of the church, salutarily received aga<strong>in</strong> [Isabella],<br />

the k<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>Scotland</strong>'s daughter, whom previously he had put<br />

away, misled by evil counsel; and he said, "S<strong>in</strong>ce such is<br />

the judgment of the church I assent gladly and safely to the<br />

marriage which I had formerly <strong>in</strong> doubt and suspicion."<br />

For it had been <strong>in</strong>stilled <strong>in</strong>to his ears that they were related<br />

to each other by consangu<strong>in</strong>ity.<br />
