to the lord k<strong>in</strong>g to salute him, he enriched her with many<br />

honours and gifts, even as it is the k<strong>in</strong>g's custom to afford<br />

return without <strong>in</strong>terval of delay when she should be called<br />

" The lord k<strong>in</strong>g sought aid<br />

from the religious houses throughout England for the marry<strong>in</strong>g of his firstborn<br />

daughter, and we gave him a hundred shill<strong>in</strong>gs " (sols) " and a silver<br />

cup of price."<br />
