of Whithorn, was consecrated as bishop by John, archbishop<br />

of Dubl<strong>in</strong>, assisted by Formalis, archbishop of Treves, and<br />

Sunday, the feast of St. Lambert, bishop and martyr, the<br />

In the same year, <strong>in</strong> the month of November, Geoffrey,<br />

elect of York, with the earls and barons of Yorkshire 5 went<br />

by command of k<strong>in</strong>g Richard, his brother, as far as to the<br />

river Tweed, to meet William, k<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>Scotland</strong> ; and t<strong>here</strong><br />

received him <strong>in</strong>to their conduct, 6 and brought him <strong>in</strong>to England<br />

as far as to Canterbury, to the k<strong>in</strong>g, adm<strong>in</strong>ister<strong>in</strong>g to him<br />

what was needful, accord<strong>in</strong>g to the custom of their predecessors.<br />
