greatly Petrus Leonis, of hated memory, and his apostasy. 1<br />

accord received pope Innocent's commands and his legate with<br />

great honour.<br />

So he discussed with them diligently for three days of the<br />

And s<strong>in</strong>ce he learned that John, bishop of Glasgow, had<br />

<strong>in</strong>trusted to none the care of souls which he had received, and<br />

had left his bishopric without permission and secretly, and,<br />

compelled by no apparent necessity, had become a monk at<br />

Tiron, [Alberic] decided concern<strong>in</strong>g him that a royal messenger<br />

should be sent for him, with letters both from himself and from<br />

the k<strong>in</strong>g ; and that if he refused to return sentence should be<br />

him. And so it was done.<br />

This also he obta<strong>in</strong>ed of the Picts, 4 that they should br<strong>in</strong>g<br />
