the contemporary mounts probably Dutch, of lotus petal panelled form,<br />
each decorated with chrysanthemum and hibiscus plants, the cover, spout and<br />
handle set with f<strong>in</strong>ely chased mounts, the cover surmounted by a peacock f<strong>in</strong>ial.<br />

Of simple elegantly potted form, the classic ‘brick red’ clay <strong>in</strong>scribed <strong>to</strong><br />
the base with a scholarly eight-character poem:<br />
Y<strong>in</strong> hua yong yue, p<strong>in</strong> zhu p<strong>in</strong>g cha: ‘Recit<strong>in</strong>g flower poems and s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g about<br />
the moon, play<strong>in</strong>g the flute while apprais<strong>in</strong>g the tea’.<br />
