20 x 23mm (10.85 gm). O: Two nude wrestlers. R: Slinger<br />

advancing right, about to discharge his sling; triskeles in<br />

fi eld to right. cf. SG. 5389ff. Evenly struck for the issue,<br />

far above average, EF. $1500.<br />

132 CILICIA: AIGEAI. 1 st Century AD. Bronze-23mm (7.63<br />

gm). O: Helmeted head of Athena right. R: Tyche standing,<br />

holding rudder and cornucopia. cf. SNG. Levante 1689.<br />

An especially pleasing VF with a fi ne green patina. $550.<br />

133 CILICIA: OLBA. time of Augustus, circa 11-12 AD.<br />

Bronze-18mm (4.86 gm). O: Portrait of Ajax, high priest<br />

and governor right, as Hermes, wearing tight-fi tting cap<br />

and earring; caduceus in front. R: Winged thunderbolt. cf.<br />

BMC. 4; RPC. 3728. Rare and historical, pleasing VF.<br />

134 CILICIA: SOLOI. 385-350 BC. Silver Stater, 21mm<br />

(10.11 gm). O: Helmeted head of Athena right. R:<br />

Bunch of grapes on stalk with leaves and tendrils. cf.<br />

Pozzi 2837. Altogether outstanding for type. Obverse<br />

with full crest. In unusually fi ne style on both sides,<br />

lightly toned and good VF. $4250.<br />

135 PHOENICIA: ARADOS. c. 350-332 BC. Silver Stater<br />

(16mm) minted under King Gerostratos (??) (10.19 gm).<br />

O: Laureate head of bearded deity (Melqarth?) right. R:<br />

Galley right, on three lines of waves; above, Phoenician<br />

letters. cf. SNG. ANS. 10ff. Nicely toned and VF/aEF.<br />

slightly rough at the periphery in obverse fi eld toward 1-3<br />

o’clock; otherwise EF in fi ne style. $925.<br />

138 PHOENICIA: TYRE. 360-306 BC. Silver Didrachm,<br />

20mm (8.83 gm). O: Melqarth riding right on hippocamp.<br />

R: Owl standing right, head facing, carrying crook and<br />

fl ail under left wing. cf. SNG. Copenhagen 309. Rare.<br />

In good metal and with a nice even strike, aEF/good VF.<br />
