12mm (1.75 gm). O: Head of Tyche of the city right, hair<br />
tightly rolled and wearing turreted stephanos. R: Eagle<br />
standing facing, wings spread. cf. BMC. 14f. Fine old<br />

109 PAPHLAGONIA: SINOPE. Late 2 nd -early 1 st Century<br />
BC, time of Mithradates VI. Bronze-26mm (21.21 gm).<br />
O: Youthful bust of Mithras (?) right, wearing Persian<br />
head-dress. R: Quiver with strap. cf. BMC---; SNG. von<br />
Aulock---; SNG. Copenhagen---; Rec Gen, Pl. XXVI,<br />
#14var (a poor quality example). A very rare type from<br />
this city. Large and heavy. An excellent example with a<br />
brown patina, EF. $1750.<br />

quadripartite incuse square, with granulated fi eld, all<br />

cista mystica within ivy wreath. R: Bow case between<br />

36mm (16.80 gm). O: Laureate head of Apollo right. R:<br />
Apollo of Gyrnion standing right within laurel wreath.<br />

Evenly struck and well centered on a a nice large fl an,<br />
