BSPA JUDGES PANEL <strong>2011</strong><br />

Application to join the Judges Panel should be made via written application <strong>and</strong> a<br />

completed equestrian CV to BSPA, Stanley House, Silt Drove, Tipps End, Welney,<br />

Cambridgeshire PE14 9SL<br />

The Judges List will be renewed annually <strong>and</strong> serving Judges are requested to confirm<br />

their details or vary information by 1st October annually. Judges must be BSPA<br />

Members.<br />

All owners, co-owners (or leaseholders/loanees) <strong>and</strong> anyone who either rides or leads<br />

any Horse/Pony all need to be members in order to qualify for for RIHS, WCC or Winter<br />

Championships <strong>and</strong> horses/ponies must be registered <strong>and</strong> in possession of a <strong>2011</strong><br />

Qualification Card.<br />

BSPA Judging Criteria<br />

PANEL JUDGES ARE EXPECTED TO JUDGE WITHIN THESE CRITERIA AND<br />

GUIDELINES as follows:<br />

IN HAND<br />

Best Colour <strong>and</strong> Markings 90% colour <strong>and</strong> markings, including<br />

Overo & Overo marked<br />

10% judge’s discretion<br />

Best <strong>Skewbald</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Piebald</strong> 80% conformation <strong>and</strong> type characteristics, including<br />

Overo/Overo Marked<br />

20% colour <strong>and</strong> markings.<br />

Type Type, <strong>and</strong> Weight Breeding <strong>and</strong> Breeding Classes 90% conformation <strong>and</strong> type characteristics<br />

Classes<br />

10% colour <strong>and</strong> markings.<br />

RIDDEN CLASSES<br />

Ridden <strong>Skewbald</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Piebald</strong>. 40% conformation <strong>and</strong> type characteristics<br />

60% Ride, performance, manners <strong>and</strong> display<br />

Working Hunters. 70/30% as 50% Jumping<br />

10% Style <strong>and</strong> manners whilst jumping<br />

10% Manners whilst performing individual show,<br />

Judge’s ride <strong>and</strong> or Final Ride Round<br />

30% Conformation <strong>and</strong> type.<br />

Whenever judges experience difficulty separating individual entries to achieve a final<br />

placing, having used the above criteria, then the BSPA require that Colour <strong>and</strong> Markings<br />

become the deciding factor in order to achieve a result.<br />
