3. Entry into the Main Studbook is via BSPA Grading or at birth for the progeny of an existing<br />

Graded Sire or Dam.<br />

4. Additionally we have a Foundation Register (Register 4) for BSPA currently (as 01/01/2007)<br />

registered but ungraded Mares <strong>and</strong> all newly registered “Verified Breeding” external breeding<br />

stock <strong>and</strong> their Progeny.<br />

5. EXTERNAL STALLIONS OR MARES GRADED WITH ANOTHER RECOGNISED<br />

STUDBOOK –<br />

Such Stallions/Mares are eligible to enter the BSPA Studbook via our Grading process. Rules<br />

as current to the Grading procedures at the time of application.<br />

Thereafter they are registered as their BSPA crossover Grading result determines (refer below)<br />

Initially the equines are entered into the Foundation Register 4.<br />

REGISTER 1 – HEAD STUDBOOK<br />

• The Head Studbook is confined to ALL BSPA Elite Graded Stallions <strong>and</strong> Mares <strong>and</strong> their<br />

progeny.<br />

• Elite Grading Status is determined by the BSPA Grading <strong>rules</strong> currently operating at any given<br />

time.<br />

• The Head Studbook (HSTB) has three Sub-sections each determined by the verified pedigree<br />

of the sire/dam.<br />

Sub-section 1 – when 4 generations or more of documented pedigree exists <strong>and</strong> has been<br />

confirmed, (including by DNA parentage test at BSPA discretion) 1-1 Honoraria, when the<br />

sire/dam from a lower register achieves ”Triple Elite” status via achieving their own individual<br />

Elite Status (not assisted by Progeny results). AND<br />

Produces a minimum of 2 BSPA Graded Progeny; ( Breeding award) AND Produces a minimum<br />

of 2 BSPA Elite Graded Progeny.<br />

Sub-section 2 – When 2 generations or more of documented pedigree exists <strong>and</strong> has been<br />

confirmed, (including by DNA parentage test at BSPA discretion) Sub-section 3 – When 1 or no<br />

generations of documented pedigree exist <strong>and</strong> has been confirmed, (including by DNA<br />

parentage test at BSPA discretion)<br />

Sub-section 4 – Appendix Register (non Coloured stock of above).<br />

MAIN STUDBOOK REGISTER 2<br />

• ALL BSPA Graded Stallions Grading sore of 80% or above <strong>and</strong> their Progeny<br />

• ALL BSPA Graded Mares Grading score of 75% or above <strong>and</strong> their Progeny<br />

Sect 1. - Equines with 4 generations of documented Pedigree or more<br />

Sect 2. - Equines with 2 generation of documented Pedigree or more<br />

Sect 3. - Equines of 1 generation of documented Pedigree or none (UVB)<br />

Sect 4. - Appendix Register (non Coloured stock of above)<br />

MAIN STUDBOOK REGISTER 3<br />

• ALL BSPA Graded Stallions Grading score of 70% or above <strong>and</strong> their Progeny<br />

• ALL BSPA Graded Mares Grading score of 65% or above <strong>and</strong> their Progeny<br />

Sect. 1 - Equines with 4 generations of documented Pedigree or more<br />

Sect. 2 - Equines with 2 generation of documented Pedigree or more<br />

Sect. 3 - Equines of 1 generation of documented Pedigree or none (UVB)<br />

Sect. 4 - Appendix Register (non Coloured stock of above)<br />
