Organisations the requirements for Elite available on request.<br />
Any Graded that Mare or Stallion that represents it Country <strong>and</strong> had gone through an Official<br />
selection process from a Recognised Body may automatically be given Elite Status.<br />
2. SHOWING ELITE – Mares 1200 Points Stallions 2500 Points all the be achieved at the<br />
BSPA National Championship show the World Championships of Colour.<br />
showing Elite offers ‘Show’ horses <strong>and</strong> ponies the same status as Performance horses <strong>and</strong><br />
ponies <strong>and</strong> is dependent on points gained by a proven showing record over three (30 or more<br />
years at the BSPA National Championship Shows.<br />
Graded mares will require an accumulation of a minimum of 1200 points, whilst Graded<br />
Stallions will require a minimum of 2500 points. Should an animal gain the required minimum<br />
points in two seasons it must compete a further season <strong>and</strong> gain an additional 500 points to<br />
qualify.<br />
Points may also be accumulated from any progeny’s results at the National Championship<br />
Shows. Points gained by first generation progeny or either sire <strong>and</strong>/or dam would be awarded<br />
at 50% of progeny’s points.<br />
All Progeny must have Verified Parentage documents.<br />
What Points are awarded?<br />
Qualification for Nationals – 50 points<br />
All points to be achieved at BSPA National Show.<br />
Class Placing – 1st 100 points, 2nd 50 points<br />
Qualifier Finals – 1st 150 points, 2nd 75 points<br />
Type Championship – Champion 50 points, Reserve 25 points<br />
Ring Championships – Champion 150 points, Reserve 75 points<br />
Supreme Championships – Champion 250 points, Reserve 125 points<br />
Overall Supreme Championships – Champion 300 points, Reserve 150 points<br />
Overall Best in Show 300 points<br />
3. BREEDING ELITE – For Brood Mares that have never had a competitive ridden career –<br />
<strong>and</strong> where not ridden at their Grading. Elite status is given for Dam who have three BSPA<br />
Graded offspring <strong>and</strong> must include at least one BSPA Graded Stallion.<br />
New Category<br />
PREMIER ELITE – Stallion or Mare that is Graded Elite in their own right either Performance<br />
Showing or Broodmare, <strong>and</strong> is the sire or dam of two BSPA Elite progeny one of which must be<br />
an Elite Stallion.<br />
How do I proceed if I think my Stallion or Mare is Eligible for Elite?<br />
If you think your Stallion or Mare is eligible for either Elite Status or Premier Elite Status then<br />
you should apply to the BSPA Secretary giving details of your horse/pony together with a<br />
printout of either competition results from the relevant governing body, or a full comprehensive<br />
list which we will then check, which will be verified by the BSPA – it is up to you to keep<br />
meticulous records.<br />
It is acceptable for the horse or pony to achieve Performance Elite in addition to Showing Elite,<br />
but criteria for both must be achieved.<br />
