SECTION D<br />

THE ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW<br />

1. All rider <strong>and</strong> owner Exhibitors, Leasors, Loaners, must be current paid up members<br />

<strong>and</strong> horses/ponies registered or overstamped with BSPA in order to qualify <strong>and</strong><br />

attend RIHS Final. No exceptions.<br />

2. Membership Cards must be carried into the ring at all times. Some shows may ask to see<br />

membership cards before allowing competitors to enter the ring. Cards may be inspected<br />

on request. Membership Cards must be carried by the person to whom they have been<br />

issued <strong>and</strong> who is the person named on that card.<br />

3. RIHS Qualification is achieved at BSPA Affiliated designated shows only.<br />

RIHS cards - members qualifying for the <strong>2011</strong> RIHS during the 2010 season, must purchase<br />

a <strong>2011</strong> RIHS card in order to compete by the 31st January <strong>2011</strong>. All other members wishing<br />

to compete RIHS in <strong>2011</strong> apply in the normal way.<br />

3b. Horses <strong>and</strong> Ponies who qualify for RIHS for the forthcoming year may not change the<br />

category they have qualified in, e.g. if you qualify as a cob/native/trad you cannot transfer<br />

to a plaited category. Exhibitors wishing to change category will have to achieve qualification<br />

in the new category. Once a category has been changed it cannot be reversed.<br />

4. Qualifiers - 1st place <strong>and</strong> the next highest unqualified st<strong>and</strong>ing 2nd–3rd. No competitor<br />

may qualify from lower than 3rd place.<br />

5. Horses/Ponies may qualify once per season, but may qualify for 09 RIHS after 08 closing<br />

date.<br />

6. RIHS Qualifiers held after 5th June will qualify for RIHS 2012 - Members must renew<br />

their membership before 31st January 2012 for 2012 qualification to remain valid.<br />

7. Lead reins not permitted.<br />

7a. Minimum age for riders in RIHS Pony Classes is 8 years calculated from 1st January.<br />

8. Ponies 153cm <strong>and</strong> under must be in possession of a current JMB Height Certificate.<br />

Shetl<strong>and</strong> Ponies are exempt. Please see page 12 for JMB details <strong>and</strong> contact numbers.<br />

9. Ponies 153cm <strong>and</strong> under must be suitable for the age/height/weight of the rider.<br />

10. Spurs may not be worn by any competitor in any pony 153cm <strong>and</strong> under class.<br />

Spurs may be worn in championships by riders who have qualified from a 153cm <strong>and</strong> over<br />

horse class.<br />

11. Horse riders must be 15 years or older on 1st January of current year.<br />

Pony riders minimum age 8 years on 1st January of current year.<br />

12. All stallions must be graded/licenced/registered with BSPA. Stallions must be ridden by<br />

riders 14years <strong>and</strong> over on 1st January of current year.<br />

13. Entries on the day - Certain shows may accept entries on the day. Competitors should<br />

contact the show to confirm availability <strong>and</strong> present membership card <strong>and</strong> Qualification card<br />

as proof of eligibility.<br />

Substitution of entries is not permitted<br />

13b. Entries: Do not enter the breeding of your horse or pony unless it holds a verified<br />

parentage breeding passport from a recognised Breed Society.<br />
