unqualified competitor under each Societies rules.<br />

Qualification cards- are issued by each <strong>Association</strong> according to<br />

their own rules.<br />

Open Classes- are open to any type or colour <strong>of</strong> horse/pony,<br />

conforming to the class description or requirement re breed type, age<br />

or gender.<br />

Prize Money- Where <strong>of</strong>fered MUST be collected at the end <strong>of</strong> each<br />

day (by <strong>of</strong>fice closure) or is forfeited. Any uncollected money will be<br />

donated to the WHW.<br />

Class Times- rings will commence at the times shown, thereafter,<br />

times are dependent upon class size <strong>and</strong> Judges progress.<br />

Abbreviations- HP= Horse/Pony h/p = Highest Placed, NB= Not<br />

before, Y/S = Youngstock, WCC- BSPA World Championships <strong>of</strong><br />

Qualification:<br />

BSPA Qualifiers (WCC) -<br />

1 ST -3 rd Qualify automatically.<br />

1 st -4 th Qualify from classes <strong>of</strong> 10-12<br />

1 st -6 th Qualify from classes exceeding 12 competitors.<br />

OPEN CLASSES - The two Highest Placed <strong>Skewbald</strong>/<strong>Piebald</strong> qualify<br />

BSPA (WCC)<br />

BSHA Novice - Any <strong>Skewbald</strong>/<strong>Piebald</strong> placed 1-6 qualify BSPA (WCC)<br />

BSPA -RIHS – The 1 st placed <strong>and</strong> the next unqualified competitor<br />

st<strong>and</strong>ing 2 nd or 3 rd .<br />

BSHA- RIHS- Hacks, Cobs <strong>and</strong> Riding Horses, the 1 st in each weight<br />

category will qualify. If they have already qualified then the 2 nd place<br />

may qualify <strong>and</strong> the 3 rd place if 2 nd place has already done so.<br />

BSHA- National Championship Show. 1-3 rd prize winners in<br />

classes 31,32,34,35 & 40 will qualify for the National Championships<br />

Classic Supreme Classes.<br />

Equifest – The 3 highest placed exhibits not already qualified<br />

P(UK) 1 st , 2 nd & 3 rd placed exhibit will qualify in classes. Qualification<br />

will pass no lower than 3 rd place.<br />

DEFINITIONS:-<br />

BRITISH COLDBLOODS - defined as...<br />

A Horse or Pony that does not have American, Continental, TB or Arab<br />

bloodlines within their first <strong>and</strong> second generation, sire <strong>and</strong> dam lines unless<br />

they are BSPA Stud Book verified, conforming to Part Bred definition below..<br />

The type more usually represents the hardy <strong>and</strong> thrifty indigenous <strong>British</strong> stock<br />

<strong>of</strong> Draught, Native <strong>and</strong> Vanner types <strong>and</strong> PB's. Requiring significant trimming<br />

<strong>and</strong> tiding unless being shown as a Traditional. Unknown parentage does not<br />

confirm any Coldblood origins. More frequently now they will have proven<br />

parentage.<br />

PART BRED AND FIRST CROSS BRITISH COLDBLOODS - Verified<br />

Breeding<br />

<strong>British</strong> Coldblood first cross (first generation) horses <strong>and</strong> ponies MUST have a<br />

minimum <strong>of</strong> 50% verified Coldblood breeding from their first generation sire or<br />

dam lines. AND part bred not less than 60% accumulated via both first <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

second generations. B.S.P.A. Stud Book <strong>and</strong> Registration records will confirm<br />

eligibility <strong>and</strong> status.<br />

AMATEUR OWNER/PRODUCER/RIDER Ridden & In-H<strong>and</strong>.<br />

All Horses or Ponies in this section MUST be owned, registered, produced <strong>and</strong><br />

ridden by the owner or their son/daughter/gr<strong>and</strong>child/brother/sister. Nor must<br />

the exhibitor earn their primary living from a stud or other equestrian or<br />

competitive discipline. Nor must they be a trainer or producer for reward or<br />

hire. Horses/Ponies MUST NOT have been stabled in a livery since 1 st January<br />

or stabled with a trainer during 2011 except in the case <strong>of</strong> a Broodmare. DIY<br />

livery is acceptable. Exhibitors will be registered Members who have either<br />

been issued with a blue amateur status qualification card or who are so<br />

classified on the BSPA membership database.<br />

DOPE TESTING R<strong>and</strong>om testing- will occur at this year’s <strong>Festival</strong>.<br />

Any horse/pony identified for testing MUST present themselves at the required<br />

time in the special area provided. Refer Rule 33 (page 15-17 <strong>of</strong> Rulebook).<br />

Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.<br />

showing. Judge will not ride, a short display required. No gallop other than in<br />

individual display at the rider’s discretion. No reinback is required.<br />

Class 7: <strong>Skewbald</strong>/<strong>Piebald</strong> Plaited Pony Types not to exceed<br />

153cms.<br />

Any sex or type. Rider any age suitable for size <strong>of</strong> pony.<br />

Grooms entering the ring MUST be dressed in accordance with BSPA<br />

result in their ejection from the ring <strong>and</strong> may result in the exhibit they<br />

are attending being disqualified. Refer Rule Book Rules 68/69 Page 22.<br />

PLEASE BE REMINDED <strong>of</strong><br />

The videoing (by any means including the use <strong>of</strong> mobile phones) <strong>of</strong> any<br />

class or animal whilst competing in a class is forbidden unless<br />

permission has been sought from the Show Directors. Passes will be<br />

issued <strong>and</strong> MUST be shown upon request.<br />

BSPA ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW QUALIFIERS 2012<br />

<strong>Skewbald</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Piebald</strong> Horses only may compete. All Horses/Ponies must be<br />

Registered with BSPA in order to compete <strong>and</strong> a competitor qualification card<br />

issued prior to this show.<br />

Classes 20 -26 incl. are held under the rules <strong>and</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> the BSPA,<br />

refer showing card. 1 class only may be entered.<br />

Qualification RIHS: 1 st place <strong>and</strong> the next unqualified competitor st<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

2 nd or 3 rd in all classes. No competitor may qualify from lower than third place.<br />

Qualification cards MUST be brought into the ring by riders <strong>and</strong> given to the<br />

judge to sign whilst rosettes are being awarded. Failure to present Q card<br />

invalidates any qualification, which is h<strong>and</strong>ed down in the ring to the next<br />

unqualified competitor st<strong>and</strong>ing no lower than 3rd place.<br />

Also Qualifies for BSPA/ WCC: 1-3 in all classes.<br />

Class 20: RIHS <strong>Skewbald</strong>/<strong>Piebald</strong> Pony any Type not to exceed<br />

BRITISH SHOW HORSE ASSOCIATION<br />

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW AND BSHA NATIONAL<br />

CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS:<br />

Classes 27 – 42 are held under the rules <strong>and</strong> jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>British</strong> Show Horse <strong>Association</strong> (BSHA). Copies <strong>of</strong> rules to be obtained from<br />

them.<br />

RIHS qualifying classes: Held under the rules <strong>of</strong> the BSHA. Horses must be<br />

registered with the <strong>Association</strong> <strong>and</strong> all owners, exhibitors <strong>and</strong> riders must be<br />

<strong>Association</strong> members. Riders must be 15 years <strong>of</strong> age <strong>and</strong> over.<br />

Classes 31,32,34,35,37,38 & 40 are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse<br />

Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified<br />

the second will qualify, if the first <strong>and</strong> second are already qualified then the third<br />

will go forward.<br />

The three highest placed prize winners in all open affiliated classes will qualify to<br />

compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show<br />

September 7th & 8th.<br />

The BSHA <strong>of</strong>fer a Novice, Young Rider <strong>and</strong> Amateur rosette in each open class <strong>and</strong><br />

a Championship rosette for each section.<br />

ENTRIES ON THE DAY: will be taken on the payment <strong>of</strong> an additional £20<br />

per class <strong>and</strong> the production <strong>of</strong> ALL relevant documentation as above.<br />

snaffle. Non-members may purchase up to a maximum <strong>of</strong> 2 Day Tickets per<br />

exhibitor, per horse per season. A day ticket will allow entry into Novice,<br />

affiliated classes only but will not allow entry into RIHS qualifying classes.<br />

Horses registered on a day ticket do not require a JMB height certificate.<br />

Competitors can apply for a day ticket by downloading an application form<br />

from the BSHA website.<br />

Class 38: Heavyweight Show Cob - RIHS Qualifier.<br />
