Congratulations to all the Valley winners in Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife
Friendly Garden Competition. Julian Wardlaw’s cover picture is a reminder that
winter has arrived complete with icy roads and chill winds though there has been
some very welcome sunshine to cheer us after the grey wet days of November.
This issue offers a choice of events to come, news of happenings through the
villages and some very moving accounts of the lives of Valley residents. Do enjoy
Bridget and Dave Bowen’s fascinating ‘Piddletrenhide Remembered’ article -
might there perhaps be an opportunity for a Ladies football team in 2013 ? The
Parish Council report includes the result of the recent Neighbourhood Plan
questionnaire and you will see that there is to be another Open Meeting on the
24 th January in Piddle Valley First School at 7.30pm to consider the next step.
We are very grateful to all contributors, and for all donations and contributions
to PVNV. We have yet to see how our books have balanced in 2012 but ever
mindful of rising costs, we still hope to retain current advertising rates through
more competitive print prices. A big thank you to all Valley distributors and to
Lindsay Merton for coming forward to help with the advertising.
