Constructional<br />
Features<br />
(i) Frame size & rating As per IS 325 Use of motors in frame sizes<br />
above 400 shall be avoided on cranes .<br />
(ii) Motor body Grey iron casting as per IS:210-1978<br />
(iii) Motor Feet Integrally cast <strong>with</strong> the stator<br />
(iv) Body Design -Prevent breakage or other failures due to<br />
vibrations normally encountered in heavy<br />
industries . -Motors shall be of weather<br />
proof construction. -Designed to operate in<br />
the humid air stream -Drain plugs to be<br />
provided . -All motors to have continuously<br />
rated slip rings.<br />
(v) Protection <strong>for</strong> Motor &<br />
Bearing<br />
IP55 degree of protection as per IS : 4691.<br />
(vi) Shaft ends & Extension -Shall be of high grade steel . -Cylindrical<br />
as per requirement -Proper drilling <strong>and</strong><br />
tapping shall be provided <strong>for</strong> mounting of<br />
tachos <strong>for</strong> speed feedback (if required ) in<br />
non drive end or shaft shall be extended<br />
<strong>with</strong> different diameter <strong>and</strong> length .<br />
Tapered shafts <strong>for</strong> all crane drive motors<br />
shall be provided. Motors in 225 <strong>and</strong> above<br />
frame size shall have tapered shaft (1:10) .<br />
-Provision of double identical shaft<br />
extension (cylindrical & taper) to be made<br />
(in case of requirement <strong>for</strong> a particular<br />
application) .<br />
