Field <strong>Definitions</strong> - Explanation of Format<br />

Standardized definitions are listed alphabetically. The format for these sections is as<br />

1. Type of Data: Indicates the type of fundamental data or ratio.<br />

2. Availability: Indicates whether a field reflects the current period - Current - or is<br />

available historically - Annual.<br />

3. Field Number: Identifies the <strong>Worldscope</strong> field number. <strong>Worldscope</strong> fields are five<br />

bytes. Whenever a four digit field number is given you can assume a "0" precedes<br />

the first digit.<br />

4. Applicable Industries: Lists the general industry classifications for which a field<br />

may be available. These are Industrials (includes Utility and Transportation<br />

Companies), Banks, Insurance and Other Financial Companies.<br />

5. Definition: Descriptive summary of field. In some cases a list of specific items<br />

which are included or excluded will be given. In cases where the definition may<br />

differ depending on the industry type they are listed separately.<br />

6. Footnotes: These are an integral part of the database as it allows the analyst to<br />

provide additional information. They may be standardized or free in form.<br />
