ENGINEERING PROJECTS AND FUNDED RESEARCH<br />
• Suggested and designed pilot experimental desalination units of 50 m 3 /d production<br />
rate Electrodialysis and Reverse Osmosis for the Municipality of Tripoli in<br />
collaboration with IONICS of USA and ITOH of Japan. The units were<br />
manufactured and used for on site testing of Desalination methods at Tripoli wells,<br />
Tajora, The project was completed in 1980.<br />
• Conducted a study on thermal behavior of buildings for the Center of Solar Energy<br />
Studies, Arab Development Organization, Tripoli, 1980.<br />
• Project on developing simple solar stills for the Center of Solar Energy Studies,<br />
Tripoli. Prototype units were designed and field plant was built in collaboration<br />
with the Arab Contractors Co. (Osman Ahmed Osman- Osmason). Project was<br />
completed in 1982.<br />
• Supervised and participated in the testing of the French ED unit in the Northern part<br />
of Egypt, Joint project of the Atomic Energy Est., Academy of Sc. and Ministry of<br />
Electricity, 1974-75.<br />
• Designed and built the Thermohydraulics test facility of the Sandia National Lab.-<br />
General Atomics Tech. UNM Joint Research Program, for the TRIGA Type second<br />
generation Reactors. 1983<br />
• Member of the research team, working on experimental verification and<br />
measurements of the super pressures associated with the water freezing phenomena<br />
between 0 and 4 o C. Fakih Research Center, Saudi Arabia, 1999-2001.<br />
• Member of the research team, working on a research project on the generation of<br />
water droplet spray cloud as a shading canopy at Holy places of Haj. The project<br />
was sponsored by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, SA, 2003.<br />
• Leading a team working on the development of a wood fired stove for outdoor utility<br />
kitchens during pilgrimage time. Funded by King Abdulaziz University, AA, 2004<br />
• Currently, working on a project to introduce the concept of energy saving by the use<br />
of the ice energy storage. Project is sponsored by the Ministry of Water and<br />
Electricity, Saudi Arabia.<br />
• Member of the team working on Theoretical and experimental investigation of<br />
hazardous atmosphere of Makkah tunnels under heavy traffic conditions, project<br />
funded by 2006- 2007.
• Starting a new research project on evaporative cooling of the air for use in green<br />
houses, project funded by KAU, 2008.<br />
• Development of a dual purpose refrigeration machine for air conditioning of coastal<br />
residence and water extraction from the atmospheric air. Project funded by Fakih<br />
Research Center, Jeddah, SA, 2008<br />
