BSO TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1971, SECTION 54 3,d AMENDMENT OF 5C Ui LIST OF BUILDINGS OF SPECIAA ARCHITECTURAL OR HISTORIC INTEREST \ DISTRICT OF STROUD (GLOUCESTERSHIRE) WHEREAS: 1. Section 54 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 ("the Act") requirs the Secretary of State, for the purposes of the Act and with a view to the guidance of local planning authorities in the performance of their functionse under the Act in relation to buildings of special architectural or historic interest, to compile lists of such buildings, and may amend any list so compiled. 2. On 24 February 1987, the Secretary of State compiled a list of buildings of special architectural or historic interest situate in the the district of Stroud. 3. The Secretary of State, having consulted with the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England and such other persons or bodies of persons S who appear to him appropriate as having special knowledge of, and interest in, such buildings, considers that the said list should be amended in the manner set out in the Schedule hereto. NOW THEREFORE the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by S.54 of the Act, hereby amends the said list in the manner set out in the Schedule hereto. HSD DOC 2 (Rev 12.87)

SO 8005 SE STONEHOUSE HIGH STREET (east side) 7/174 No 19 (Apsley House) and No 19a House with attached former malt house, later dairy, now op. Midlate C17; mid C18 refronting to No 19; late C18 exte osin to malt house; C19 alterations. Random rubble and ashlar mestone; red brick; ashlar chimneys; Welsh slate roof. Two- orey with attic house (No 19); T-plan; 3-storey malt house No 19a) projects forward towards road. West front: 3-wit dow 12-pane sash fenestration, all with keyed beaded archit aves except that over doorway to left with recessed 'cavetto moulding; 6-panel door with flat timber porch hood. Front gable to ma-it house has parapet with finial and pigeon holes with moulded p7t'ches in apex. Middle floor doorway with timber lintel and glazed door reached up straight flight of concrete and stone steps;/ top floor window over with coloured glass. Indications in stonework of lower gable height. South side of malt house is brick7on stone plinth with stone quoins indicating much shorter original b(9ding detached from house; older part has 3-light casement /" ground and 2-light to upper floors, both chamfered sto/,re muViJioned with hoods; 2-light to attic without hood. Addi ion to east has segmental arched middle floor casement; possibly eablier part to right having mixed fenestration including m,4ddl Floor 2-light with hood. North side: 2-light casements to a ar wall of malt house, also with indications of alter ions a to south. Moulded parapet gables to ends of house with chimneys having paired shafts and moulded caps; k 5 2 single-light casements with hoodmoulds to upper floor and attic, 2-light to groupd floor at south end. Casements with timber lintels to rear/wing, masonry being coursed rubble from early C19 rebuilding. Gothic intersecting glazing bars to ground floor window in eas/t gable end. Interior: late C17 staircase with turned balusters, moulded handrails a/d strings. Beams with pointed stepped stops., Malt house attic has concrete floor. (N.M. Herlert, 'Stonehouse' in V.C.H. WHEREAS:<br />
