9/168 Main building at Upper Mills

Former mill building, now offices. 1875 for R.S. Davies, cloth
manufacturer. Red brick; stone dressings; Welsh slate roof.
Three-storey with attic; 4-storey tower on west side. West front:
10-window segmental arched casement fenestration with stone sills
interrupted by off-centre tower with attached 2-storey lean-to
incorporated to left. Paired sashes to third floor of tower with *
pointed arched panel over bordered by stone moulding, moulding
being taken up to become pointed hoodmould above circular window on
fourth floor Sprocketed and hipped tower roof with brick eaves
decoration, lucarnes and ironwork cresting. Plain stone banding to
main block; sloping attic windows in mansard roof. Some C20
alterations to ground floor. Rear: 10-window fenestration as to
front. Ends: coped gables; single window casement fenestration.
Interior not inspected.
