Circa 1700. Two and a half storey house <strong>in</strong> coursed rubble. Cotswold<br />

stone roof with 2 modern chimneys and 3 gabled dormers. Three ranges<br />

I of 4 light casement w<strong>in</strong>dows with chamfered surrounds and drips, altered<br />

on ground floor to left; centre and right hand w<strong>in</strong>dows l<strong>in</strong>ked by common<br />

*! drip, they flank a chamfered doorway with half glazed door. Left hand<br />

j bay appears to be an addition.<br />

Interior: chamfered beam with stop resembl<strong>in</strong>g folded ribbon.<br />

Mid C18, altar type with moulded pl<strong>in</strong>th and egg and dart ornamented cornice.<br />

Slight break to central panel, carved flowers beside panels. Moulded<br />

and scrolled capp<strong>in</strong>g and shaped f<strong>in</strong>ial.<br />

Cemetery associated with the Upper Forest Green Congregational Chapel<br />

(1688 and 1720, demolished 1973).<br />

Railway Hotel<br />

Now a private house. Railway branch l<strong>in</strong>e dates from 1864-67. This late<br />

classic villa-style house is earlier. Ashlar with moulded cornice to<br />

cop<strong>in</strong>g. Ripped slate roof. Three x three w<strong>in</strong>dows, glaz<strong>in</strong>g bar sashes,<br />

arched <strong>in</strong> centre of ground floor (formerly a door as <strong>in</strong>dicated by steps).<br />

Ground floor return to left has bow with casement w<strong>in</strong>dows.<br />

Pa<strong>in</strong>ted band over first floor to front and to left hand return with <strong>in</strong>scription<br />

"Railway Hotel".<br />

Shown on a mid C19 pr<strong>in</strong>t of <strong>Nailsworth</strong> before railway arrived.
