Removed to this site 1881. Known as Shortwood Chapel. Large pedimented<br />

gable to front <strong>in</strong> classical style. Two storeys. Coursed and dressed<br />

rubble with ashlar dress<strong>in</strong>gs. Four pilasters with fluted capp<strong>in</strong>g, modillion<br />

cornice. Pediment opened by arched w<strong>in</strong>dow, with sub-Venetian tracery,<br />

<strong>in</strong> centre of first floor. Three bays, segment headed w<strong>in</strong>dows with marg<strong>in</strong>al<br />

glaz<strong>in</strong>g, architraves, ground floor with cornices, first floor cill band.<br />

Arched entrance with panelled spandrels, recess for doorway. Seven bay<br />

vessel.<br />

Tablet to left of entrance <strong>in</strong>scribed with Chapel's history (orig<strong>in</strong>ally<br />

(1716) <strong>in</strong> Shortwood).<br />

C17 and C18 modernised. 'Lt-plan. Two and a half storeys, coursed rubble<br />

with Cotswold stone roof. Two chimneys, ashlar with moulded'capp<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

One rak<strong>in</strong>g top dormer. Two+two w<strong>in</strong>dows on first floor, casements of 2<br />

and 3 lights, the 2 right hand w<strong>in</strong>dows have chamfered mould<strong>in</strong>gs and mullions.<br />

The ground floor open<strong>in</strong>gs more altered, the 2 left hand w<strong>in</strong>dows have a<br />

common label and partly orig<strong>in</strong>al jambs, the right hand w<strong>in</strong>dows have labels,<br />

the left hand one of the 2 is a 3 light mullioned w<strong>in</strong>dow.<br />

Tented trellis porch with patterned trelliswork. Slightly po<strong>in</strong>ted doorway<br />

<strong>in</strong> stop chamfer surround. Mullion w<strong>in</strong>dow to left hand return.<br />

Interior: baffle entry; one beam has ovolo mould<strong>in</strong>g, another a form of<br />

ridge-stop.<br />

Pretty cast iron gate to front garden.<br />
