Four windows on first floor (one blocked), casements, 5 on ground floor, the 2 right hand ones are bays flanking a door. The gable end to Market Street has entrance to Carpet Shop and a hlower 2 storey extension to left, modern shop premises. Talaton Moor is in 3 parl;s, the first section to left is older (and described above), the central section and right hand section are at an angle and break forward with hipped roofs. Painted rubble. One+three windows, mostly casements with wooden lintels, one glazing bar sash on return of centre section and small sash windows to left of entrance of centre section. Right hand section has sprocket eaves, the rafter ends carved as modillions. Circa 1700, perhaps incorporating portions of an earlier house. A good example of a gabled Cotswold house. Built of rubble stone with Cotswold stone roof. Three attic gables with small oval windows. Three storeys, 5 windows, thlek glazing bar sashes in moulded stone architraves with keystones, stone cills, block corners and continuous dripmoulds. Doorway with moulded stone architrave and fine shell hood on brackets, studded door with glazed panel. Fretted lead gutter head. Original decorated lead rainwater heads. L-plan extension with two 2-light mullion windows with common label. Two+one gables to rear, U8ly the middle one with an original mullion window. Basement doorway below. 2lil'&t The interior has a good original staircase with twisted balusters on straight Iii 44 string, panel newels with ball finials, panelled dado. 5227 CHESTNUT HILL 11 (south-west side) ST £t499 6/30 30.5.51| II WV The Wool Loft (formerly listed as Newmants Wool Warehouse) 2. Dated S W 1726 roughly in centre of north-west front. Three and a half storeys, coursed, dressed and squared rubble. Stone tile roof. Three gables each with 2 light chamfered mullion windows and drips. Fenestration below altered. Three windows on second floor with common label, blocked C09 opening to left, 2 light in centre and 4 light to right. First floor I has 4 windows, 3 and 4 light mullion casements, partly blocked, only one retains label. Modern lean-to across ground floor obscures datestone and various openings. , Rear of main part has saddlestones to gables, one with pigeon-loft. i Three storey 2 window extension to east, C19, in rubble with slate roof and cambered brick heads to windows. * Interior: the loft shews the roof carpentry which is a good example of ' cross gabling with collars resting on gables. 5227 CHESTNUT HILL I (south-west side) (Quakers Close) Nos 1 and 2 a (formerly listed as Box Cottage) ST 8499 6/29 30.5.51 II GV 9- 2. , ;! Probably mid-late C17. Two storeys, painted rubble with stone tile roof and 2 chimneys. Large gable to left with saddlestone, blocked roof-space jY and attic windows. First and ground floor windows irregular one on each floor to gable [dripmoulds, set back chamfers mullionsj, similar windows without drips flank doorway to right (No 15 which consists of Tudor arch with ogee moulded surround and drip over deep lintel. Plain chamfered 2-light mullion window over. Door to No 2 is a modern insertion with wood lintel and large window. Rear elevation similar to front. Elevation to New Market Road more regular. 3
