The quality of this ley when cut at its optimum time of 67D will provide not only an exceptional yield but forage of the highest nutritional quality. The addition of hybrid ryegrass will assist the ley in its ability to produce well in the second year of production whilst the late diploid perennial ryegrass will provide a bottom in the sward preventing the worst effects of heavy vehicles travelling the field in perhaps not the kindest of weathers. In a normal year 67D will be achieved around 14th May. • dual purpose mix • for high quality silage with the benefit of extended grazing • Gives full two year persistence • high tetraploid content increases sugar content and therefore improving fermentation within the clamp • 67d date circa 14th May Whilst perceived as a short term ley, Silogen has the advantage of greater longevity, it will produce high quality forage well into its third year. The tetraploid hybrid will provide yield and quality and the diploid hybrid will give excellent early spring growth coupled with good yield. The addition of an Advanced Italian Ryegrass, will increase yield and persistance whilst improving protein content. In a normal year 67D would be achieved around the 15th-17th May. • 2-3 year cutting mixture • suitable for intensive silage production • Maximum yields of quality silage • Can be cut 1-4 times from mid May • high in sugar to improve fermentation and palatability
MediuM terM Mixtures A dual purpose medium term ley of 3 – 4 years duration although a fifth year could be achieved with good management. The ley is based around providing the potential of a good silage yield and then to go on into a grazing regime, although should it be required a second conservation cut can be obtained. This second cut will be at 67D around six weeks after the first cut, providing sufficient quantities of nutrients are applied to provide rapid re-growth of the sward. The mixture will provide good early spring growth with Romark and Polim providing good summer grazing and Elital providing good late summer production. The use of intermediate perennial ryegrass and hybrid ryegrass are the basis of a good conservation cut which would be around 67D on the 25th May. • dual purpose mixture with clover to last up to 4 harvest years • designed with the emphasis on aftermath grazing • Good persistence and disease resistance • White clover blend for improved palatability and performance • available with iseed ® A medium term cutting ley, where quality and quantity are combined to produce what is probably the farmers ideal mixture. The addition of Advanced Hybrid Ryegrass will improve yield, protein content, drought tolerance and digestibility.
