of poaching and sward degradation which so often
is apparent with horse and pony paddocks.
We have included cultivars which exhibit good tolerance to stress,
will provide a dense grass cover to help eliminate harsh treatment
to the animal’s feet, but also to provide forage of a low sugar
content and high fibre content. The ley can also provide good
quality hay, albeit of a softish nature. It is advisable to overseed
paddocks each year in the autumn to ensure good ground cover
for the following year and good grass cover for feeding and
recreational usage.
