The cultivars have been selected for their yield and digestibility and response to high inputs. The forage when grazed at 4-6 cms will give a very high digestibility and energy output to increase milk yields. Calvano has high early season yields which complement the production from the cultivar Twystar which produce abundant forage in late summer. COuNtryWide speCial Mixtures A medium term ley composed of excellent varieties but designed to help those where price is an important factor. The mixture is based around hybrid and intermediate perennial ryegrass, it will provide early spring growth which can be ensiled at 67D around 18th May but can equally provide a good grazing sward. The addition of white clover will help with summer growth nitrogen fixation and improved forage quality. • 3-4 year medium term ley • suitable for both cutting and grazing • Clover inclusion to improve performance A ley of 5 years plus duration which like the medium term mixture is designed for the more price conscious. The mixture is composed of excellent intermediate perennial ryegrass cultivars, providing early forage which can if need be ensiled or provide for early turn-out.
