QATS SPECIAL-REQUEST & SITE-SPECIFIC PESs REGION IX MONTROSE SITE Special-request chloral hydrate soil PESs confirmed the presence of chloral hydrate at the site. QATS also developed a method for the extraction and analysis of chloral hydrate in soil. Presence of chloral hydrate resulted in the identification of a new responsible party (PRP). Large amount of chloroform at the site led to suspicion that breakdown of chloral hydrate was the cause – PES usage helped confirm this. Region was prepared to abandon efforts for chloral hydrate detection until provided with the PESs and method. Pesticide PESs with 2,4’-DDT, -DDD, and -DDE are now standard QATS PESs due to additional requests. 19th Annual NARPM Training Conference June 2-5, 2009 Atlanta, Georgia 21
