5. Use the classroom globe to answer this question: If you dug a<br />

hole straight down into the Earth from South Africa, <strong>and</strong> went<br />

through the core of the Earth, where would the hole come<br />

out? Draw a picture in the space below.<br />

Answer: in the Pacific Ocean, near Hawaii, about 26 degree north<br />

of the equator, <strong>and</strong> about 150 degrees west of the Greenwich<br />

meridian. Check this for yourself on your globe. Let the learners<br />

work with the globe until they solve this for themselves. However,<br />

they are not allowed to poke a pencil into the globe!<br />
