Digestive System.<br />

Buccal cavity and pharyngeal pump transport liquid food into the (esophagus.<br />

(Esophagus - extends through the head and then divides into two branches.<br />

The first and more direct branch leads to the proventriculus and the other<br />

more slender one connects with the crop or food reservoir.<br />

Proventriculus - small muscular tubular or sac- Qr disk-like organ without<br />

grinding surfaces and usually with a valve.<br />

Crop or food reservo'ir - normally present, rarely absent in some families;<br />

appears to be an enlargement of the branch of the cesophagus; simple,<br />
