<strong>KOLM</strong> ENGINES<br />
Constructing and manufacturing four stroke<br />
engines for scale mo<strong>de</strong>ls is our passion. Mo<strong>de</strong>l<br />
engines <strong>de</strong>signed and built by mo<strong>de</strong>l aviators<br />
for mo<strong>de</strong>l aviators is our line of operation.<br />
Almost all employees at <strong>KOLM</strong> ENGINES<br />
have a technical background and experience in<br />
aviation. Hans <strong>Kolm</strong> looks back on nearly 40<br />
years fl ying mo<strong>de</strong>l aircraft. In combination with<br />
the knowhow of his competence centre CNC<br />
TECHNIK <strong>KOLM</strong> this builds an excellent basis<br />
for the <strong>de</strong>sign, <strong>de</strong>velopment and production of<br />
reliable and long lasting mo<strong>de</strong>l engines.<br />
Unique solutions instead of cheap mass<br />
productions – solely four stroke gasoline<br />
engines are manufactured at <strong>KOLM</strong> ENGINES.<br />
The construction is conducted on mo<strong>de</strong>rn 3D-<br />
CAD- systems. All parts are manufactured with<br />
cnc-techniques by <strong>KOLM</strong> ENGINES in Austria<br />
un<strong>de</strong>r ongoing quality measurements.<br />
An inspection and dimension dimension report and<br />
the registration registration of the serial number are<br />
also characteristic for a thorough quality quality<br />
management.<br />
Available are single cylin<strong>de</strong>r motors motors of of 50cm³<br />
and 65cm³. Due to to the modular modular <strong>de</strong>sign they they<br />
are building building the basis for all inline inline and boxer<br />
engines. That provi<strong>de</strong>s a maximum fl fl exibility exibility<br />
for individual solutions for the customer. For<br />
the time being a three cylin<strong>de</strong>r inline motor<br />
with a a volume of of 200 cm³ is the biggest engine<br />
available.<br />
Price and Quality:<br />
<strong>Kolm</strong> engines are high end quality products.<br />
Design, <strong>de</strong>velopment, prototyping, production<br />
and quality control is lying in one hand – <strong>KOLM</strong><br />
ENGINES AUSTRIA, as a full system supplier.<br />
Highest quality and reliability of raw materials<br />
and externally supplied parts is paramount and<br />
the basis for customer’s satisfaction. We prefer<br />
suppliers from Austria and Germany ensuring a<br />
continuous high quality level.<br />
Before being ready for the market all engine<br />
types run through a two year lasting test phase.<br />
Passing at the end the 100 hour “long run test”<br />
as well as additional quality checks the motor is<br />
released for production ensuring the customer<br />
will get a high end product.<br />
Prior to <strong>de</strong>livery to the customer in a 100% end<br />
test all motors will guarantee their reliability in a<br />
one hour run on the test bench. Quality control<br />
is our obligation<br />

FOUR STROKE<br />

Common Features<br />
All four stroke engine contain a manufactured<br />
crankshaft ma<strong>de</strong> of heat treated steel, balanced<br />
with pressed in “wolfram weights” for<br />
extremely smooth running. The crank pins are<br />
har<strong>de</strong>ned and pressed in mechanically. The steel<br />
connecting rods are ma<strong>de</strong> of har<strong>de</strong>ned steel and<br />
are optimized with the Finite Element Method<br />
(FEM).<br />
The bearing surfaces of the needle bearings<br />
are hartgespin<strong>de</strong>lt and the upper connecting<br />
rod eyelet is ma<strong>de</strong> out of bronze implemented<br />
into the surface. The electronic ignition is<br />
microprocessor driven and provi<strong>de</strong>s automatic<br />
timing. Spark plugs with a thread M 10X1 are<br />
used. All engines are prepared to be combined<br />
with a gear box. As an option <strong>Kolm</strong> <strong>Engines</strong><br />
<strong>de</strong>livers all motors with an electric starter.<br />
The engines will run with a fuel-oil-mixture in<br />
a ratio of 1:50 up to 1:100. <strong>KOLM</strong> ENGINES<br />
emphasizes the use of ASPEN or STIHL gasoline.<br />
Using mixed gasoline will minimize wear and<br />
tear.<br />
All engines are completely assembled and run in<br />
upon <strong>de</strong>livery to the customer. They come with<br />
a quality control certificate. A user’s gui<strong>de</strong> and a<br />
part list is also part of the package.
